Sustainability vs Climate Crisis - Emerging Solutions

Program information

Program information

During the conference, you will listen to exciting keynotes, follow interesting debates, and participate in workshops and field trips. You will also have a lot of time to network with fellow young science enthusiasts. Focus topics include:

  • Climate research: the physical science basis: atmospheric science, oceanography, paleoclimate studies
  • Impact of climate change on society: global health, emerging diseases, economic transition, cities of the future
  • Climate change mitigation: emerging technologies such as carbon capture, renewable energies, and technological transition to a net-zero carbon economy

These focus topics will include the following subjects:

  • Mathematics and computer science with a special focus on AI
  • Biology, pharmacy, and medicine
  • Climate physics, (bio-)chemistry, and environmental sciences
  • Sustainable lifestyle, climate economics, and sustainable architecture
  • Engineering with a focus on renewable energy, carbon capture, and power-to-x

We are happy to announce guest lectures by the following renowned speakers:

  • Henrik Stiesdal: Founder and CTO of Stiesdal and Former CTO of Siemens Wind Power.
  • Susanne Ditlevsen: Modelling of biological systems, Copenhagen University and President of the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences.
  • Lukas Weis: Operator of the atmospheric observatory and overwinterer at Neumayer Station, Antarctica (via live call)
  • Roland Löwe: Flood risk assessment, head of water systems section at DTU
  • Andre Visser: Arctic oceans, National Institute of Aquatic Resources at DTU
  • Riikka Rinnan: Atmosphere and biosphere dynamics, Professor in Terrestrial Ecology at Copenhagen University.
  • Georgios Kontogeorgis, Thermodynamics of Mixtures and CCUS, is a Professor at the Centre for Energy Resources Engineering at DTU.

Further keynote lectures will be announced here soon.

In addition to the keynote lectures, we will have workshops and introductory lectures on topics related to climate change and its mitigation by Master’s and PhD students from renowned universities such as the Danish University of Technology (DTU), Heidelberg University, TU Wien, and the University of Copenhagen.

Do you want to contribute to the program

You are a Master’s or PhD student or a Postdoc and would like to present your work or, in general, your field to an interested, young, interdisciplinary crowd? If so, we still have a few program slots available for your contribution.

The following formats are possible:

  • Workshop of up to three hours. (If you are at DTU, you can also invite the participants to your lab. ;))
  • Outreach lecture of 30 or 60 minutes.
  • Short pitch-your-research lecture of 15 minutes.

A mix of the formats listed above or custom-built ideas are, of course, also possible. Please reach out to the organisation team if you want to contribute.

  • UNF at: climate.coordinator25@unf.dk
  • juFORUM at: copenhagen25@juforum.de

Do you want to present a poster?

Students at the bachelor's level and above are welcome to present their research in our poster session. Please register that you want to submit a poster using the registration form.

The organisation team will contact you with further information on the poster session in due time.
