Fusion energy promises to revolutionize the way we power our world — offering nearly limitless, clean energy by mimicking the same process that fuels the Sun. In this lecture, I will introduce the scientific principles behind magnetic confinement fusion and explore the exciting progress made in Europe and worldwide toward building the first generation of fusion power plants. I will also share how Denmark contributes to this field through DANfusion and Eurofusion, highlighting the crucial role of materials science in designing components that can survive the extreme conditions inside a fusion reactor. Together, we will discuss why fusion is one of humanity’s greatest scientific challenges — and how close we are to turning it into a practical reality.
For ikke-medlemmer, Adgangsbillet: 20 kroner, Årsmedlemskab: 50 kroner

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor,
Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering, Aarhus University
As one of the four university representatives on the DANfusion board, I work strategically to connect Danish materials research with international fusion efforts. My research focuses on the mechanical and microstructural behavior of tungsten and advanced coatings for plasma-facing components in fusion reactors. Having worked at the Max Planck Institute for Plasma Physics and led tribology and surface engineering studies at Aarhus University, I am deeply passionate about bridging materials science and sustainable energy.
