Forensic medicinal issues are frequently mentioned in regards to criminal cases and are therefore often included in books, movies and television programmes. However, what does a forensic medical examiner actually do?

• Does the job only have to do with death and destruction?
• Can it be decided whether a victim of violence is speaking the truth?
• Can skeletons talk?
• What can rigor mortis, livor mortis and maggots tell?
• What happens during suffocation, a shooting and a stabbing?

The questions and much more will be answered through examples from the daily and ordinary work.
